Growing up…

I was continuously surrounded by the arts and creativity. It flowed out of the people who were around me. Whether it was my talented cousins effortlessly playing instruments, my aunts and uncles captivating us with their beautiful singing voices, or the mesmerizing poetry recitations that filled our family gatherings, creativity seemed to be woven into the very fabric of our existence.

It was through these artistic outlets that I discovered the power of storytelling, learning how to use creativity as a means to communicate the often murky and intricate complexities of the human experience.

As I grew older, my curiosity led me to delve into various artistic disciplines which led me to production, teaching and administration. Whether it is Music, Dance, Theater or Opera, any artistic medium has one thing that connects them. Expressing the human experience.

Past our cultures, language, politics and differences, Stories have the power to unite us and connect us to the shared human experience. Stories that can shine a light to the humanity in all of us and to see that we are all created with purpose and dignity.
